Synopsis "Education for Challenged students in Kenya"
This study investigated factors influencing the implementation of inclusive education for students with exceptionalities in secondary schools in machakos. The study was guided by survey research design. Three secondary school in Machakos County were used to achieve the objectives. The target population was made up of 150 students (both physically and non-physically challenged), 3 head teachers and 12 teachers (both special and regular) making a total of 165 participants. In this study, simple random sampling technique was used to select the targeted group. Questionnaires were used to collect the data. Data were sieved, prepared and analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21. The findings of the study indicated that there were problems associated with the implementation of special needs education. However, it facilitated employment and self-employment of special needs students. Teachers are facing a few problems in handling the special needs students hence affecting the quality services they are offering. The Ministry of Education needs to staff more trained special needs teachers.
