Synopsis "The Cailini: Loves"
Maggie was a force of nature. The year was 1954 and as she grew up on the crumbling streets of Pueblo, Colorado, she watched the Cailini girls dominate the neighborhood. She dreamed about the day she might take her place as one of them. But when she has to fight for what she believed in, while she watches the people she loves slip through her fingers, she is forced to decide just what kind of girl she is. On her side of town, blackened by smoke stacks of the steel mill, she learns that sometimes you have to rely on people you grew up hating to survive This is the second book in a four book series about a 15 year old girl trying to find her way in a world that only wants to keep her in her place. Maggie and her family deal with love, loss and an ever changing America. Their story takes place in an industrial town in Colorado that never seems to have enough space for their kind. The books deal with gangs, racial prejudice, murder, pregnancy, and the drama that so often surrounds children living on the edge of society.
