الشاعر اللبناني شربل داغر حامل شهادتَي دكتوراه في الآداب العربية الحديثة، وفلسفة الفن. أستاذ في جامعة البلمند (لبنان). له أكثر من خمسين كتاباً، بالعربية والفرنسية. كتبَ الشعر وترجمَه ودرسَه، وكتب الرواية وترجمَها ودرسَها، وأصدر كتباً في الفن الإسلامي والفن العربي الحديث، وفي التاريخ المحلي لبلدته (تنورين). من مجددي قصيدة النثر في العالم العربي، وعدَّه بعض النقاد رائد "ما بعد قصيدة النثر". له ما يزيد على إحدى عشرة مجموعة شعرية، وأربع مختارات شعرية، منها أنطولوجيتان، واحدة بالفرنسية وأخرى بالألمانية، وله قصائد مترجمة إلى الفرنسية والإنكليزية والألمانية والإيطالية والفارسية واليابانية وغيرها. اعتنى بدرس شعره أكثر من ناقد، كما اعتنى فنانون بشعره، ونظموا حوله معارض تشكيلية، وأصدروا عنها كتباً شعرية- فنية.
