Built in direct support of WWII, the USCGC STORIS (WMEC-38) has the distinction of being the first US-flag vessel to transit the Northwest Passage and eventually circumnavigating the North American continent in 1957. During her 64-year career, she was called on by multiple U.S. Presidents to help secure the American way of life. The USCGC STORIS (WMEC-38) set several records for the United States Coast Guard Cutter Fleet, including being the Cutter with most service in the Bering Sea and being the Oldest Commissioned Cutter in the Fleet-otherwise known as the "Queen of the Fleet".
