Ce sera le début d'une amitié qui les conduira d'aventure en aventure à la recherche des sources du Nil... Henry Morton Stanley, né en 1841 au pays de Galles sous le nom de John Rowlands, s'est embarqué comme mousse à destination de l'Amérique. Il y sera commis d'épicerie, soldat, ouvrier agricole, marin puis grand reporter, avant de devenir l'un des plus grands explorateurs du XIXe siècle.
