Synopsis "Aelvaja"
When the Seraphrine attacked, the Makhal were taken from their homeland. Presented as a gift to the Humans, the Makhal became slaves; they were robbed of their culture, their homes, their families, and their lives. They were sent to work in the castles and homes of mankind, under the threat of the powerful magic wielded by the Seraphrine and the Humans. As they fell into a deep slumber that would last centuries, the Makhairi Gods pooled their power and promised that they would undo this; they spoke of the rise of a blue-eyed Makhairi girl, who would lead her people to salvation.That girl was born in Grandvaren Castle, some three-hundred years later, and killed shortly after. The chosen heroine of the Makhal was lost.This is the story of her sister: Aelvaja. Aelvaja is the first in a series following the adventures of a girl who is, by definition, not the chosen one. Together with her Mahaksein, a group of strong and dedicated renegades, Aelvaja seeks to free her people and reclaim her homeland. The series explores caste systems, conservative traditions, prejudices and biases, and mindfully delivers some much-needed representation into the fantasy genre.
