Synopsis "Arnie, Mervin, & The Blood of Kings"

Arnold Gibbs is a thirteen year old boy with un-diagnosed childhood depression and S.A.D. He lives on a bleak council estate ironically called the 'Sunny Hill Estate' in South London with his Mother, step-father and best friend (and Dog) Lady. At school, Arnie (as he is known to most) is the regular victim of bullies who take exception to his quick wit and apathy for their juvenile and cruel games and for school in general. This, coupled with the fact that it is mid-way through a very cold, wet and grey February makes Arnie feel very sad and morose and like his life is not worth living and has no meaning at all. What's worse though, is that for all his intelligence, quick wit and good humour - he just doesn't know why he feels like this and neither does anyone else in his life, at home or at school. A fact that only perpetuates his own obvious frustration. On his fourteenth birthday Arnie's world is turned upside down and inside out when the impromptu party his Mum throws for him is gatecrashed by a strange and apparently nerdy old man claiming to be his Uncle Mervin. After something of a grand entrance and with the help of a prophetic marble he has in his possession, Mervin shows Arnie that all is far from what it seems. He shows him that his life is very much worth living as he is part of a legendary royal bloodline that is connected to ancient natural force called Gaia and that it has more meaning than he could ever have possibly imagined. Employing some of his own quick wit and some more impressive special effects, Mervin convinces Arnie to travel with him to his home in Tintagel so he can learn more about his family's past and begin his own journey of self-discovery. So Arnie hops a quick ride to Tintagel with Mervin and his trusted companion Lady in the belly of his Dragon! As you do...... Shortly after arriving at Mervin's deceptively magnificent home in Tintagel and beginning his 'training', Arnie meets Mervin's comical 'flatmates' Archie and Alfie - two Owls that he can inexplicably communicate with. Under Mervin's guidance and with the help of his new found avian friends, Arnie is gradually exposed to the wonders of Magic, the Dragon's breath and the ethereal plane as he eventually begins to understand the real importance of his calling. Arnie soon comes to realise however that this is in fact no origin story and that history tends to repeat itself more often than not, as a malicious, familiar dark force that has been waiting in the shadows for many years reveals themselves to him with tragic results. With the help of some new friends he makes along the way and an ancient magical weapon, Arnie and Mervin embark on a dangerous quest to protect Gaia and the secrets that have been entrusted to them, that will take them from the bleak council estates of south London to the ancient standing stones of Stonehenge, Tintagel and the ethereal plane.
