Synopsis "Beacon Encounters"

Two short romantic tales set against the backdrop of hiking and trail-running in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Part 1, "Encounter on Cribyn", takes place in and around the village of Talybont-on-Usk, the starting point of the arduous Midnight Mountain Marathon that takes place annually. Alan, a keen marathon runner, decides to experience the freedom and challenge offered by running on mountain trails and hopes to put in sufficient training to compete in the Midnight. However, he is totally unprepared for the encounter that will change his life in more ways than one. Part 2, "Encounter on the Black Mountain", is set in the Black Mountain region in the west of the National Park, an extensive area of high ground that rises to about 780m. Sophie and Peter have each planned to recover from the stress of final examinations by spending a few active days cycling and hiking. However, after meeting unexpectedly in their small guesthouse, they find all that they had ever dreamed of and so much more.
