No ordinary child, Shauntri is the reincarnation of the legendary bard of the humpbacks, Bichantrez, Singer of Two Worlds, reborn to sing the age-old wisdom of the whales to mankind. He is blessed with an astounding singing voice, which mesmerises all who hear it, and has incredible, undefinable talent in the water, the reason for which gradually becomes clear. A terrifying dream convinces Shauntri he must return to his previous home in Antarctica to reconnect with Setaysha, Great Queen of the Seas. To accomplish this, he must reassume his whale form and migrate the vast distance with his humpback family. This impossibility must actually happen, as the earth's very survival depends on it. Once reunited, Setaysha reveals the astounding reason for his reincarnation as a human child.
