Synopsis "Biomedical Signal Processing"

In this book, we have tried to address several topics concerning the analysis, synthesis and compression of the electrocardiogram (ECG) signal using the MIT database. This signal makes it possible to identify and locate the different arrhythmias of the heart. We first detect the QRS complexes of the ECG signal. The localization of these complexes is essential for the determination of heart rhythms. We then compress this signal by segmenting it and then transforming it to reduce its size through wavelet transforms, sinusoidal transforms, main components, etc. Then, the complexes located in the first bets are classified in order to extract premature ventricular contractions. Finally, we present a real application of our different detection and compression techniques on an ECG paper. The methods presented in this book will facilitate the automation of the diagnosis of different cardiac diseases, and will help predict the ischemic state of a heart.
