This is a BIRTHDAY story of a REFUGEE girl newly arrived in Canada.In 2019, more than 3780 refugee claimants arrived in British Columbia, adding to the total of 10,540 from 2015-2019. They are displaced people who enter the country as asylum seekers. Many of them are children coming along with their families. With an increasing number each year, it is not uncommon to have these new families moving into your community, and having their children entering our school system. The story of this book is inspired by the real life experience of a refugee girl newly arrived in Canada. It depicts the struggles of one's desire to adapt to an environment that is culturally and physically new, as well as the joy of making new friends and being accepted into the community. It is hoped that this book will promote a better understanding and acceptance of all who are new to our country.
