Synopsis "Bolingbroke's Defence of the Treaty of Utrecht: Being Letters vi to Viii of the 'study and use of History'"
Henry St John, 1st Viscount Bolingbroke (1678–1751) was a prominent English politician and political philosopher. Originally published in 1932, this book consists of numbers 6–8 from Bolingbroke's Letters on the Study and Use of History. The selected letters provide an account of the historical events leading up to the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713, justifying the Treaty whilst at the same time admitting to the inadequacy of some the terms. The text also contains an introduction by renowned political historian G. M. Trevelyan (1876–1962). This book will be of value to anyone with an interest in Bolingbroke and European history.
