Synopsis "Borrowed Time"

Laird Coel MacInnes has fought alongside Robert the Bruce for Scotland's freedom, long before the Bruce was crowned King of Scots. Coel has a secret even the king doesn't know. He is a trained Druid and has used his gifts, such as they are, in their fight against the English. When he discovers one of King Robert's trusted advisors, Liam Munro, in a conference with Colonel James Roxbury, he attacks. Despite Coel's skill and his size, the fight with the Englishman does not go well. He is mortally wounded. While Liam and Roxbury debate who is going to kill the Highlander, Coel rises to his feet and staggers into the forest. There is only one place he can go that will give him a slim chance of survival. One of his gifts is to communicate with the forest animals. They delay Roxbury and his men long enough for Coel to reach the standing stones. One of his others gift is to use nature to provide a barrier so that the English can't enter the stone circle. Another of his gifts is traveling through time. He has never used it before, but he is about to use it now. Aislynn Munro is a Twentieth-first Century woman. She is fiercely independent and denies her Druid gift of healing. She owns a herbal and spice shop in Napa, California. She is surprised and shocked when during a hard thunderstorm she discovered a wounded Fourteenth-Century Highlander. Her druid gift will not be denied any longer. She heals the wounded man using her gift. Aislynn refuses believe the man is from seven-hundred years in the past. There has to be a logical explanation for his mode of dress, speech, and weapons. Coel mission in traveling to the Twenty-first Century is to bring Aislynn back to his time to save King Robert's life. He doesn't know why or how the king is endanger Her mother, Rose Munro, traveled through time to save her unborn daughter's life. It was time for Aislynn to return. He heard the stones calling to him. A call that can't be denied. Coel forces Aislynn to return with him to the year 1314. She demands to be returned to her time. Coel knows he can't so he makes a deal. He will return her if she helps him with his mission and promises to introduce her to King Robert. The king has been her idol for as long as she could remember, so she accepts. She never knew her father and her mother wouldn't tell her even his name. She comes to accept that her mother was from this time so it stood to reason her father was too. Can she find the man who sired her? Good question. Aislynn doesn't know where to begin her search. What of King Robert? Can she save his life and thus save the fight for Scotland's freedom. What of Coel relationship with Aislynn. Her fiery nature has gotten her and him into a mess of trouble where he has had to rescue her from her worse nightmare. Along the way Coel has fallen in love with the woman but refuses to let his love for her get in the way of his mission and duty to Scotland. Will Aislynn find her father before she returns to the century in which she was born? Will her budding love for Coel stand in the way of her return?
