Synopsis "CALCULATING the Dates of the Birth and Crucifixion of JESUS of Nazareth"
To hundreds of millions of Christians, the Nativity, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Jesus are the core, central, most important events of human history. All previous human history leads to these milestone events; all subsequent history proceeds from them. The world's very calendar is based on the Nativity. All Christians base their prospects of eternal bliss on the Crucifixion and Resurrection. But when did these events occur? This book gives a new and possibly startling approximation of the date of the Nativity, and a precise calculation of the date of the Crucifixion. The calculation of these dates combines information from the Old and New Testaments, with known facts of ancient history, Judaism, and detective work based on astronomy. With regard to the Nativity, this book resolves the APPARENT conflict in the traditional dating systems -- 6 - 4 BC if one follows the Gospel of Matthew, or AD 6 if one follows the Gospel of Luke. This book concludes that both Gospels were correct, and both point to a Nativity which occurred between 2 BC - AD 1. To the author's best knowledge, nobody before has presented the arguments for these revised dates as he has. This book concludes that Jesus was crucified precisely on April 3, AD 33. Admittedly, this book is NOT the first source to arrive at this date. But this book presents arguments in favor of this date in a way that no previous scholar has ever done.Anyone who is interested in learning more about the origins of Christianity will find much food for thought in this book.
