It's 1999, sixty years after the fire that destroyed the Casa Loma Ballroom and claimed the life of Orville Hatcher. The vintage swing revival is sweeping the country. Vintage swing dancing, vintage clothing and vintage swing music are all the rage, and what better place to find all of the above but St. Louis's own, Casa Loma Ballroom. Like everyone else who is caught up in the Lindy Hop swing craze, Jerry Russell and Ann Brill embrace the new phenomenon and everyone in it with open arms. Rediscovering swing dancing for the two is like a breath of fresh air. The friendly swing dancers at Casa Loma are reminiscent of a simpler, more honest time, when big band music was popular.
