Synopsis "Central and Southern Indiana 2014 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Anthology"
The written works featured in this anthology were among the 270 submissions to the 2014 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards in the Central and Southern Indiana region. Winning authors were recognized with Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention. All Gold and Silver Key pieces are included in this anthology, though in some cases, longer works and portfolios had to be excerpted. The anthology also features selected Gold Key works of art. Started in 1923 by Scholastic founder Maurice R. Robinson, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards has grown to become the nation's highest honor and largest source of scholarships for creative teenagers. Notable Scholastic Awards alumni include Andy Warhol, Stephen King, Richard Avedon, Ken Burns, Truman Capote, Lena Dunham, John Updike, Sylvia Plath, and many more. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for Central and Southern Indiana are sponsored by Clowes Memorial Hall of Butler University, the Hoosier Writing Project, and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
