Synopsis "College-Bound for Misadventure: A Two-Part Novella"

Misadventure I: 'Going Postal' in Lincoln, Illinois -OR- How Kent State Saved My Posterior It happened quite a while ago when the story’s hero, Robby Michaels, was attending Abraham College (a small, private junior college in Lincoln, Illinois). What started out as something of a fraternity prank snowballed into something much larger. Eventually, it would tie into something historical .... the famous Kent State massacre in Ohio in May 1970. As the story progresses, Robby turns out to be indirectly involved in that famous tragedy. The story becomes increasingly suspenseful. Misadventure II: The Continuing Education of Robby Michaels -OR- How to Get an A+ in Visual Arts 101 Without Really Trying In the second story, shortly after arriving in Vermont in the fall of 1970, Robby finds himself headed for yet another misadventure. Here he becomes so involved in the drug sub-culture of that era, that it takes a toll on his academic performance. Out of desperation, he begins planning cunning ways to survive again. By coincidence, this story will offer a pivotal event that occurs on May 4, 1971 .... the first anniversary of the Kent State massacre. Somehow Robby not only survives these two misadventures, but he thrives. Because of these unnerving experiences, he ultimately concludes that the old adage, “That which does not kill me will only make me stronger,” applies directly to him.
