Synopsis "Colours of South Africa"
"Colours of South Africa" is a visual, literary and spiritual journey into South Africa seen, sensed and perceived through the eyes of a stranger. Alex Fan Moniz (with poetic contributions by celebrated South African female poet Makhosazana Xaba and the unique photographs of The Expedition Project/Maddy Savitt) takes the reader into the magic of South Africa's exquisite landscapes, melting pot of peoples and cultures and unique Fauna and Flora to be found nowhere else on Earth. An amazing selection of images covering all of South Africa's provinces, capturing simple, raw, everyday life subjects, and the beautiful Nature and landscapes of this country often in extraordinary ways. The association of imagery with poetry and short-stories will grab the readers' imagination with the deep, organic, complex yet simple, sometimes dark, spiritual and intense style of Alex Fan Moniz. Some of the short-stories have been inspired by native African tales, legends and myths, assuming a new character and dimension. Some of the eleven official languages (Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana, Afrikaans and Nama-Khoikhoi, the rare and ancient Bushmen language) are included in this work as a celebration of the rich, varied and unique cultural heritage in this country.
