Synopsis "Cradle of Power"
Cradle of Power is a story that illustrates life in a typical African society emerging from colonial rule. It shows life in traditional and post-colonial settings. Rituals, abuse of power, corruption and powerlessness are part of societal ills. Even the efficient administration left behind by the colonialists gets corrupted by its officials. The subject matter of this story-book can be found in things great men in and out of power do. It has to do with the concept of traditional rulership which cannot easily be terminated except through death or by checks and balances. When we are offended, we feel hurt. But we must forget, otherwise we won't have anyone to relate with. This story-book shows that revenge may be sweet, but forgiveness is divine and sweeter.
