Formerly a successful detective for the Hannibal Police Department, Banter Wonderful's career was abruptly cut short when his ex-partner Sheila Sutton lost her life in the line of duty. Convinced that Banter was somehow indirectly responsible for her demise, the authorities swiftly relieved him of his position and badge. Now working in the private sector, Banter accepted any case imaginable just to keep the doors to the Wonderful Detective Agency open, if only for another day. Still, when a potential client contacted Banter for professional assistance, it would have served the detective well if he had hung up the phone, thus being drawn into a relationship with a woman whose motives were based on false pretenses. Sadly for Banter, his judgment could easily be swayed by the likes of a sweet voice and a beautiful face. With a burning desire to obtain a sincere marriage proposal at any cost, the woman who called upon Banter would literally go to extremes to obtain her objective, even to the extent of resorting to persuasive bondage tactics to her advantage, for the men who lacked sincerity were swiftly dealt with then buried in unmarked graves amongst the rosebushes in her back yard.
