Synopsis "Cyber Elven: Book 1: Fading Powers"

Arthur C. Clarke famously said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". "Cyber Elven" is a series of young-adult novels that imagine what happens when Arthur C. Clarke's statement has become the truth for an alien species. What happens when humanity has disappeared, but our advanced technology remains? When an alien race lands on earth and begins to interact with that technology, they assume it's Magik. They evolve elaborate rituals for Heating food or bathwater, for Calling their livestock, and even for manipulating Weather. Each elf chooses a single skill to learn - everyone except Tika, who learns all kinds of Magik like she's playing with water. Despite her youth, Tika's extraordinary abilities have given her a dangerous enemy - the most powerful wizard in the Village, Wizardelf Xinar Ka'ba, who will stop at nothing to try to find out why Tika's Powers remain strong while his are failing. Why? Because there's a problem in the Village - everyone's Powers are fading - except Tika's. Some elven are no longer even able to heat their Cookstones. Tika is given a hint by the fearsome Guardian of Net, Fyr'wall - a hint that involves the Line of Power that leads away from the Village - away from the only home Tika has ever known. From the village that she has been taught is the whole world. Although Tika is just fifteen, she and her three companions - selective mute, best friend M'raj, clumsy Wizardelf Apprentice Moog, and ex-bully Br'on - sneak out of the Village at dawn in search of answers before Magik fails entirely. What they discover at the other end of the Line of Power is more strange than any of them could have imagined - and shakes up their belief in Magik. The four young adventurers will have to learn new skills to survive in the wild - and learn to trust each other - as they race to solve the problem of fading powers.
