Synopsis "Dark Short Story Collection: 20 Dark Tales"

The following twenty short stories are dark genre written with a heavy influence from Alfred Hitchcock, Rod Serling and Edgar Allan Poe. However my brand of dark genre stands alone where brands are concerned, and is written in a surrealistic style which breaks from the conventional formula authorship of many standard corporate writers. Those create works based on ease of reading for high volume sales in order to earn profits for the mega publishing houses. I write for the more discerning dark genre reader who can appreciate surrealism just as art critics and buyers of Salvador Dali's works have come to expect nothing close to convention. My works are not for the average arm chair prisoner who is accustomed to the monotonous style of writings prescribed throughout most readers academic lives by overzealous teachers. Students of such become readers who seek some link to a nostalgic past for the comfort familiarality affords. However contained within the following twenty short stories the reader will not find their parent's brand of fright and fear. Nor is it anything that would be approved of by a spinster librarian with the one size fits all measure of what constitutes literary prowess. Dark genre is the hard rock of literature and not a waltz designed to prepare one for a sedimentary life of the not so popular wall flower whose only friend may be a book on a Saturday night. Instead it is meant to be shared and analyzed, to be discussed with others to find the true subject that may be hiding among symbolic characters and themes. Fears, phobias and obsessions can sometimes twist realities to the personal likings of hidden personas behind the mask of the confident alpha male or the pretty face of unfathomed feminine beauty. But like any kept dog, it sooner or later seeks its freedom. And of course their trusting victims will eventually appear alone to flaunt their independence of the usual norm. Such challenges cannot be dismissed by the secret self that has bided its time to rise up from the whispers in the far reaches of a mind, a mind as bottomless as a black hole. Dark genre enters those eerie black shadows to report on matters most believe would better be left forgotten, and of course nothing is ever forgotten by the possessed. This, since their ultimate goal is only to be noticed, to transform their whispers into a roar, and the history of their being, as one written in blood.
