Synopsis "Days Gone By"

Days Gone By is a story about Peter and his neighbor that he met when he moved into a new building in his hometown of Batavia. His neighbor and he shared dinners together and came to know each other well while they lived in the building together. Instead of telling a sad story, Peter reflects in this memoir how people go through struggles and get to know each other more than they ever thought they would. His friend Debbie, plagued with chronic health problems, deals with important issues that many others might have to face or have already faced in their lifetime. The book tells a unique story of friendship between two people who lived as next door neighbors and learned to know each other very well through extreme circumstances. The story is also about living in a specialized residential treatment setting. The author and his neighbor came from different backgrounds but found common ground. Debbie showed strength in difficult times as she hoped to make people proud of her for what she faced not only in life but in the end of her life as well. He wrote two other books in a similar vein about losses felt and rewards found in a personal way. His first book called Rochester Stories recounted events that happened in his life in his late twenties and early thirties. In his second book, Alabama Stories, he examined his short career as a construction worker and the events surrounding the years he worked in southern Alabama. The books Alabama Stories and Rochester Stories were both published in 2017.
