De Tín Marín: Mi canto, mis raices, is a collection of authentic Mexican children songs and rhymes, organized in pedagogical indexes. There are two versions of the book, one in traditional music notation, and one in Kodály-style solfège notation. The scores include the lyrics in Spanish and literal English translations, a detailed description of the way the songs and rhymes are used in their original social context, and a detailed description of the game, if applicable, that takes place with each singing game and/or rhyme. The musical and extra-musical content of the songs is organized in melodic, rhythmic, structural, song type, and thematic indexes, which make it easy for the teacher to find material that would serve specific curricular goals and objectives. These indexes are available on line, not in the book, at detinmarinsongs.com.
