Synopsis "Designing Transformer Insulation Systems"
Transformers are critical components of power systems. A few minutes of power interruption disrupts the entire power grid. Insulation degradation is the principal cause of transformer outages. There are two types of insulation systems used in transformers: liquid and solid insulation systems. However, widely used mineral oil is less biodegradable and less available. As a result, alternate liquid dielectrics are critical. As a result, an in-depth study of transformer insulation design has been included in this book. The book is divided into five chapters, each of which discusses in detail the principle operation of a transformer, transformer selection, transformer monitoring methods, and smart transformers. Furthermore, a real-time critical characteristics comparison between vegetable oil and mineral oil is incorporated.
