Synopsis "Desperate Remedies"
In Desperate Remedies a young woman, Louise Boliver, is forced by poverty to accept a post as lady's maid to the eccentric Miss Smyth, the woman whom her father had loved but had been unable to marry. Louise loves a young architect; Archie Hall, but the scheming, Miss Smyth knows the fact that Archie is already engaged to another woman (whom he does not love), revealing it to Louise, and thus, the urgent need to support a sick brother drives Louise to accept the hand of Roger Daultry, Miss Smyth's illegitimate son, whose first wife is believed to have perished in a fire; however there is some question whether she really died.
