Il faut se rendre à l'évidence, les recherches passées sur les anciennes langues de France ont échoué avant l'ancien français du XIè siècle, il n' y avait aucune donnée. D'aucuns avaient imaginé l' existence d'un latin corrompu, appelé "langue romane" pour combler ce vide. Il n'est nul besoin de citer les infimes données concernant les langues gauloises, exploitées jusqu' à présent par des "celtologues", sans aucune démarche scientifique... Dorénavant, on peut parler de cet échec au passé, puisque Philippe POTEL-BELNER a repris l'étude des manuscrits continentaux du Haut Moyen Age, considérés jusqu'à présent comme écrits en vieil irlandais. Leur étude avait été bâclées par Thurneysen, Vendryes et les autres...
