Synopsis "Discipleship: The Stepping Stones to Spiritual Maturity"
A major issue in Christianity today is spiritual apathy. Believers flock to churches that teach the knowledge of God's word without an emphasis on its application. As a result, Christians are "always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth (2 Timothy 3:7). Reverence for God and service to God have become secondary to the lure of the world system and its empty rewards. God must become first in our lives if we are to be obedient to Him. The intent of this book is to convince the reader of the need to grow in Christ and to train others in the process. Discipling is essential to living the Christian life, the abundant life (John 10:10), that Jesus promised to every believer. Yet, so many of us struggle through life, attempting to survive in our own strength. Jesus wants us to depend on him. When we learn to make Jesus the Lord of our lives, we walk in His light, His truth, with Him by our side (1 John 1:7, Matthew 28:20). Discipleship is the instrument that God has provided for us to know him. Knowing God leads us to greater faith in Him. That greater faith finds its completion in the hope of a better life here on earth and eternal life with Him who saves and keeps us.
