Synopsis "Eagles' Leap: A 9/11 Poem, A 9/11 Libretto, A 9/11 Opera"
"Eagles' Leap: A 9/11 Poem, A 9/11 Libretto, A 9/11 Opera" uses its three forms to grapple with the murderous destruction of September 11, 2001 from the points of view of pastoral characters facing choices before and after the attacks. The beautiful, dramatic, emotional, often romanticized writing supported by mythology and symbology examines human hopes, strengths, beliefs and vulnerabilities as the principals look for and question their life directions, often with the guidance of a specially aware milk cow, in dialogue-driven action. "Eagles' Leap" celebrates the United States of America's oldest ally, France, and the French gift of the colossal statue, Lady Liberty, with all her attendant meaning while also tugging at the heartstrings of American patriotism. Author-created poem illustrations add to the author's front and back cover art. The poem will be accessible to the largest number of readers, who will then like to see how "Eagles' Leap" is realized as a libretto and an opera. "A Few Notes" follows the poem and should be read after reading the poem to support understanding of this unique creative artwork. Maturity can vary, but readers ages 18 and older probably would handle the content of "Eagles' Leap" best.
