This study presents the aspects that characterize the economic system of Venezuela, emphasizing its specific conditions as a country dependent on oil income, establishing the relationships between this rentier economy and the industrialization processes and especially with regard to the agri-food sector and the impact on the Food and Nutritional Security of the country.The study makes a historical rescue from the beginning of oil exploitation in Venezuela and how this changed the political, economic, social relations and food production.
