Poultry litter is used in confined buildings met for raising broilers, turkeys and other birds. The bedding materials such as wood shavings sawdust, peanut hulls, shredded sugarcane, straw, sand and other dry, absorbent, low-cost organic materials. The main function of bedding materials is to help in the absorption's moisture, preventing the excess production of ammonia and harmful pathogens .The materials used as bedding can also have a significant impact on the hematological and biochemical characteristics. Some specific procedures must be adhered, to properly maintain the litter and maximize the health and productivity of the birds raised on it. From the findings of this research, rice hull, groundnut hull and sharp sand can be effectively used as alternative bedding materials to wood shavings without detrimental effects on the physiology of broilers.
