Synopsis "Effects of two training methods"
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), obesity is one of the biggest public health problems on the planet. It is projected that by 2025 there will be around 2.3 billion overweight adults and 700 million obese ones. The WHO has been sensitising its member countries to the need to change sedentary lifestyles and improve eating habits in order to prevent overweight and obesity. The PRANEX extension project at the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys (UFVJM) aims to re-educate obese/overweight individuals in terms of diet and physical exercise in order to reduce body fat composition. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of concurrent training (strength training and continuous aerobic training combined) and continuous aerobic training on body composition in obese individuals.
