Markus Henze geht der Frage nach, ob der einheitliche Abwicklungsmechanismus (SRM) den Anspruch erfüllt, Bankenrettungen seitens des Staates abzuwenden und das Ausfallrisiko bei jenen Akteuren anzusiedeln, welchen auch die erwirtschafteten Gewinne zustehen, nämlich den Finanzinstituten selbst. Der Autor analysiert die Regelungen der zentralen Bankenabwicklung in der Eurozone aus rechtlicher und ökonomischer Sicht und zeigt, dass die bisherigen Regularien noch sichtbare Schwächen aufweisen. Diese Schwächen gilt es zu beseitigen, um den Teufelskreis zwischen Banken- und Staatsschuldenkrisen wirksam zu durchbrechen und das Vertrauen in den europäischen Finanzsektor zu stärken.
