Synopsis "Emory O. Jackson, Warrior"
A Black newspaperman and educator who fought for Civil Rights in Birmingham, Alabama, during the "Bull" Connor era, E.O. Jackson is remembered through his byline, correspondence, and interviews with family and friends. The Honorable Richard Arrington, Jr., Mayor of Birmingham, remembers Jackson as one whose life was constructively influenced by Emory O. Jackson. "In so many ways my life was unalterably shaped by this thinker/crusader who until his dying day never surrendered in the face of despair, nor did he ever shrink from the heat generated by his passion-driven deeds to right longstanding wrongs, to seek, often alone, equal opportunity, to remove barriers that impeded the path of his fellow African Americans. They never had a more formidable advocate, a more relentless warrior."
