Synopsis "Empowerment as a process of prevention of gender-based violence"
Violence against women and members of the family group was considered for a long time as a private problem, now it is considered a social, health and public order problem. Taking into account the statistics, it can be noted that the rates of economic and psychological violence against women in District 9 of Cercado are the most alarming, being frequent the abuse of "power" that many men exercise as supposed "superiority" of the masculine against the feminine, where the victims present aggression, physical and especially psychological damage, leaving serious consequences for both the victim and for the members of the family. Although Law No. 348 was promoted by the State with the aim of preventing, eradicating and punishing all forms of violence against women in the public or private sphere, the rates continue to rise, especially in this pandemic. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that professionals of Human and Social Sciences intervene. In this line, a prevention project is carried out to promote women's empowerment.
