أبو نَبيلٍ صَيَّادٌ فقيرٌ.. يَخْرُجُ كُلَّ صَبَاحٍ باكِرًا إِلَى الشَّاطِىء القَريبِ ليَِصْطَادَ بضِْعَ سَمَكَاتٍ.ثمَ يبَيِعُها بثِمََنٍ زَهيِد ليِشَْترَيَِ بِهِ طَعَامًا أو حَاجَاتٍ بسيطةً لَهُ ولأُسْرَتِهِ. في يومٍ مِنَ الأَيَّامِ عَادَ أبو نبيلٍ حَزِينًا لأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَتَمَكَّنْ مِنْ صيدِ حتى سَمَكَةٍ واحِدَةٍ. وعِنْدما اسْتَيْقَظَ نبيلٌ ا لحَظَ حُزْنَ أبِيهِ، فَقَرَّرَ مُسَاعَدَتَهُ ووعَدَهُ أَنْ يَصِيدَ سَمَكَةً كَبِيرةً لِيَبِيعَها بعدَ ذلكَ بثَمَنٍ غالٍ.
