بعد مجموعته الشعرية الأولى، الطيور تفقد بوصلتها التي صدرت عام 2020، يواصل الشاعر أحمد نجم في مجموعته الشعرية الثانية هذه، أفراح مؤجّلة، مسيرته الشعرية بنبرة تتراوح بين الهمس حيناً والحدّة أحياناً أخرى. وتميل العبارة بشكل خاص إلى الهمس في القصائد التي تتناول مدارج الطفولة وزمنها الذي مضى في الجليل ويافا والناصرة. كذلك الأمر، في قصائد الشمال الاسكندنافي، ترقّ العبارة وتشفّ حتى تتماهى مع السكون والطبيعة وثلجها وغاباتها وبحيراتها وشمسها المنتظرة على الدوام.أما حين يلتفت الشاعر نحو واقع الحال الراهن في البلدان المحيطة بالأبيض المتوسّط والمبتلاة بمآسٍ تتوالد وتشتدّ ضراوة، يرتفع حينئذٍ الصوت وتقسو العبارة تبعاً لحمولتها من الأسى والألم.
