Eine Kombination aus Sü kartoffelstärke (SPS), MMT-Nanoton und ätherischem Thymianöl (TEO) wurde verwendet, um eine aktive, biologisch abbaubare Nanokompositfolie für Lebensmittelverpackungen zu entwickeln. Diese Studie zeigte die Wirksamkeit von SPS/Ton-Folien, die TEO enthalten, bei der Kontrolle des Wachstums von Escherichia coli und Salmonella Typhimurium und der Verbesserung der mikrobiologischen Qualität von Frischwaren (z. B. Babyspinatblätter) während der Kühllagerung.
