Synopsis "Evaluation of Anti-inflammatory activity"
The observation of the study indicates that the ethanol extracts of Ixora coccinea possess better anti-inflammatory properties as compare to the water extract. Anti-inflammatory activity may be due to the presence of phenolic compounds and alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, steroids, and phenols. The ethanolic extract inhibited the heat induced albumin denaturation, proteinase activity and heat induced haemolysis. Purification of each bioactive compound is necessary and this purified form of the compound can be used which may show increased activity. This study gives a clue that the isolated compound of the plant Ixora coccinea can be used as lead compound for designing a potent anti-inflammatory drug which can be used for treatment of various inflammatory diseases.
