Synopsis "Ewan's Sword"
Ewan Carruthers A man who is drawn back to the dark ages by a mysterious standing stone. After fighting against the invading Germanic tribes and even finding love his life seems settled. To his horror he awakens in a modern hospital bed, desperate to prove his dark age adventures really happened. He must find some way of traveling back but finds his way hampered by archaeologists who are busy investigating the standing stone he uncovered on Castlehewen. Frustrated by their continuing interference he resorts to desperate measures to achieve his goal. Aided once more by Lailoken he succeeds, only to be thrust into a life and death struggle against agents of his old enemy, Morgan. This work of fiction continues the story of Ewan Caesarius/Ewan Carruthers and draws on the rich heritage of the history of the Britons. Most of the main characters are taken from this history, as are many of the major events. As examples, Caesarius, Lailoken, Urien, Morgan and Taliesin are well known in ancient records. The battle of Argoed Llwyfain (Leeming Lane) is recorded as taking place in 575 AD. The battle site lies a few miles north of York in North Yorkshire.
