A missing child, a deserted playground, an alcoholic driven insane by a sinister copy of his own self - and a strange girl at the core of it all. A child not of this world. The death of her mother places Bonniface with the Traveller family she has never known. Although disturbed, she is quickly taken into their hearts, ultimately being drawn into a web of madness and despair which mirrors her own. Struggling to see a point to her existence, she wonders, perhaps when her 'work' is done she will be allowed to 'go back'. Even if she is yet to discover where 'back' is. Meanwhile, she will become witness and unlikely confidante, as those around her slowly come to the surface and self-destruct.
