Currently living in New Orleans, the strikingly beautiful Miss Mina Petrov has overstayed her visa and is struggling to find work in her chosen field of fashion modeling. She is also deeply troubled because her suddenly ill mother needs expensive medical treatment. To solve her problems she is facing an important decision - as is her jobless boyfriend from back home - that involves her agreeing to assist him in a robbery. It goes desperately wrong and results in her being blackmailed by Police Officer Thomas Anderson. Because of Mina's friendship with Daniel Cavanaugh, a self-doubting engineer's aide at NASA, she is forced to obtain highly secret data from him in exchange for her keeping her freedom. As the officer's deadline approaches - he plans to sell the secrets to the Russians - the unlikely pair of Daniel and Mina become lovers. As the noose tightens, a love between Mina and Daniel grows. Anderson's relentless pursuit of Mina forces her to flee to Serbia. Daniel's dilemma of love for Mina or love of his country eats at his heart and soul. His decision to follow and to persuade her to return leads to unforeseen entanglements.
