Synopsis "Flipped: A novel about art and love"

Emma Meade is an ambitious career girl, well revered as a painting expert for three hundred year-old auction house Fitch in New York City. Emma's world is rocked when the old world company is bought by media mogul Mick McMullan, more interested in purchasing pedigree than true passion in the arts. Immediately she is pitted against her clandestine sometimes boyfriend Anthony for a coveted position, causing heated competition. Complicating matters further, she is asked to host a sensational TV series on McMullan's network entitled "Sex and Art"- a tough sell for someone with Emma's pride in academic integrity. Emma navigates a complex coterie of characters in business, including Marina her curvaceous colleague, Bee the Ice Queen, Tim the scrappy photographer, the avuncular framer Mr Barounian and his dashingly swarthy son Raffi (unfortunately impervious to Emma's charm). After learning that Anthony is stealing her best clients Emma confronts him and ends up landing a very rare and valuable painting for the auction house. Meanwhile, the TV series gains a cult following and Emma develops celebrity status. Her world seems to be on the upturn when the painting goes missing and a forgery is put in its place. Everything Emma has worked for is about to crumble, including her reputation. Excellent at evaluating art, Emma is no expert when it comes to seeing the authenticity in people. The clock ticks as auction day approaches and Emma must find the missing work before others realize the painting on display is a fake. Will she be able to convince others of her genuine worth and find real love?
