La fluorosi è un problema endemico che interessa diverse zone del Paese. La tossicità del fluoro può manifestarsi sia come fluorosi dentale che come fluorosi scheletrica. Come segno precoce di fluorosi dentale, i denti perdono il loro aspetto lucido e si sviluppano macchie bianche come il gesso. In seguito, queste macchie bianche diventano gialle e talvolta marroni o nere e, nei casi più gravi, la perdita di smalto conferisce ai denti un aspetto corroso.
