Synopsis "Go Thee West"

Amish weddings are usually in the fall after the harvest season. But a young couple, Horst and Sarah, sanctioned by the church and community, were married in the spring. Their families want them to leave Pennsylvania to get away from the impending war, and head for Oregon. It's the spring of 1863, and the United Sates is in the middle of the Civil War. The trials and challenges of their journey west, seeking the safety of Oregon, bring the young couple closer together. Events that happen along the trail change their lives and the lives of all they meet. Will they make it to Oregon? A seventeen year old Ponca boy, Two Clouds, from the Ponca nation in Nebraska Territory, is raised with the same moral and compassionate nature as the newly married Pennsylvanians. Four men whose trail is filled with murder and thievery eventually bring these young people together. The young lives are filled with joy and tragedy, and the web that weaves their destiny will change their lives forever.
