According to wikipedia, Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR), better known as Kidney Reflux, is an abnormal movement of urine from the bladder into the ureters or kidneys. Doctors believe that it is a birth defect established in the womb during child development. Kidney Reflux is rare and only affects about 1 percent (1%) of children. Most children grow out of the condition as they get older. In Madison's case, she spent years in and out of hospitals, emergency rooms and doctor facilities fighting infections and trying to out grow her birth defect. Ultimately, she required corrective surgery. Madison wanted to write this book to help others understand more about Kidney Reflux and show other children that you can overcome this condition and go on to live a normal life.
