Hiroshige folgt durchgehend bestimmten Gestaltungsprinzipien der Proportionen der Elemente, der Anordnung von Elementen und Ansichten nach Diagonalen und Parallelen und der Ausbalancierung von Farbelementen. Im Vergleich zu den meisten seiner anderen Tokaido-Serien konzentriert sich Hiroshige in Aritaya darauf, die Landschaft die Geschichte erzählen zu lassen, anstatt Menschen oder Legenden dies tun zu lassen, obwohl dies nicht vollständig umgesetzt wird.
