Synopsis "Historical Records of Australia: Series III Volume IX"
This is the resumed series III, volume IX, the first volume being published in 1925. Edited by Peter Chapman, here are despatches and papers relating to the history of Tasmania (this volume taking in January-December 1830), and also a commentary of the despatches and letters. All the letters and despatches have retained their spellings and nuances. This source is invaluable and essential for people who want to learn and read about European and Aboriginal relations first-hand. Of particular interest is Chapman's discussion of Windschuttle's The Fabrication of Aboriginal History. The endpapers of HRA, series III, volume IX show the important Black Line map, which details the military, settler and convict operation against the Aborigines of Van Diemen's Land (which was called the Black Line operation).
