Synopsis "Horatio"
Meet Horatio Arthur Mills; valet to Lord George Pelham, 'war hero' and thoroughly decent chap. Oh, he has his faults of course, such as murdering the odd person or two, well, more than two, but who's counting? Probably best not to keep count, all things considered and besides, it's just not done, and even if it is, it's definitely not cricket. Unless it was with a cricket bat... As the 1920s start to roar, Horatio and George are reluctantly obliged to visit the country seat of the rather unsavoury Prayman family. But after a mysterious fire kills Lord Prayman and a maid is brutally murdered, George declares they must solve the crime as a matter of duty, while Horatio has different concerns. Even though he hasn't killed anybody in simply ages, the finger of suspicion slowly starts to point towards him and Horatio has more impetus than most to find the real killer. And if the killer can't be found, well he'll just have to frame someone won't he? But the question is, who? Or possibly, whom? First in the series of darkly comic crime-thrillers from writer Stephen Ellis. Horatio: Jeeves and Wooster meets American Psycho.
