Synopsis "Hypogonadism and cardiovascular risk in HIV patients"

The Acquired Human Immunodeficiency Syndrome was described in 1981 in the United States. Com o advento da Highly Active Antiretroviral Therapy houve uma importante e sustentada suppressão na replicação viral, elevando a sobrevida e a qualidade de vida dos pacientes soropositivos. This is a cross-sectional observational study. It was developed at the Lipodystrophy Outpatient Clinic of João de Barros Barreto University Hospital in the period between January 2013 and June 2014. Of the patients evaluated, 44.9% of these have hypogonadism, 59.1% with hypogonadism tending to hypergonatrophic. 73.4% of the patients are between 45 to 69 years old. The sensitivity and specificity of the ADAM test were 72% and 20%, respectively. Patients with SIHIV have a peculiar cardiovascular risk profile, more than two thirds of them have intermediate to high risk of cardiovascular events. Due to the prevalence of diabetes, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia and increased blood pressure levels. Finally, the research suggests hypogonadism as a risk factor for increased cardiovascular events.
